As a doula, photographer and sister. This birth was pretty special to me. I loved supporting my sister in law through her pregnancy with my sweet nephew. She wanted a different experience than she had with her first birth, but also not knowing what to expect of a natural experience she wanted all the support. Leading up to her birth she did alllll the things, she was prepared in every way. Friday morning she went into her 39+ week appointment with hopes of going into labor over the weekend. I know she and my brother had a jam packed day and when they got home that evening, it became clear it was time. After experiencing cramps turned contractions throughout the day, her water broke on the kitchen floor. They labored together so perfectly, I couldn't have been more proud of her and my brother. As a doula witnessing the love between the laboring mom and her husband is always my favorite part of attending births. It's so raw, incredibly intimate and beautiful. She was so strong, bringing her baby into the world with such grace. It was just two hours from her water breaking at home to their sweet boy being in their arms in a room filled with love and family. Dalton Kooper. Completely and utterly loved by so many.
